2012 Report

     This year’s race day started with heavy rains, but by race time it was cool, cloudy,  with some spinkles but clearing skys as the race went on.  It turned out to be lovely trail running weather.    Despite the rains we still had 120 runners on the 9.5 course and 69 runners on the 3.4 course for a total of 189 runners.     

     On the 9.5 race course,  Andrew Combs of Cambridge MA set a new course record with a time of 54:33.  Steve Obrien of Clinton MA was a close second, beating his record time from last year with a time of 54:39.  Erica LaBella of Plymouth NH won the women’s division with a new female course and 30-39 age group record of 1:07:49.  Rob Hult of Harvard MA set a new 40-49 male record with a time of 49:40.  Paul Funch after designing this race and directing it for 14 years finally was able to run the 9.5 race with a time of 1:13:26.  Two 72 years old ran the 9.5, Vic Laport from Clarksburg MA winning the age group and Dick Hock from Fishers Island CT. 

       Craig Gemmell of Groton won the 3.4 mile race with a time of 23:31.  Kristi Cabot of Merrimac NH won the women’s division with a time of 26:42.  Nicholas Thornton set a new male 5-9 year old record with at time of 29:10 and Emma Ordemann of Groton set a new female 15-19 year old record with a time of 26:50.
